General Information
Duration
20 minutes
Type
New Surgery
Type of Anesthesia
Local Anesthesia
Recovery Time
2-3 weeks
Scar Condition
Small scars are usually well hidden and normally fade in time.
Procedure
A natural dimple is the result of a small opening in a muscle in the cheek called the buccinators muscle. Even though, it’s a hereditary trait but it can be created with a minimally invasive surgical procedure. Doing dimpleplasty will create a permanent dimple, whereas people who are born with natural facial dimples can lose them or see a reduction of depth as they get older.
Dimple Creation Process:
To create a dimple, the incision is made in the inside of your cheek so there will be no incision or scar on the outside skin.
A small dissolvable suture is passed through the inside of the cheek and catches the under surface of the skin to the marked area.
Preoperative
Avoid spicy food, seafood, fermented food.
Stop smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages two weeks before and after surgery for healing the wound faster.
Abstain from aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E and supplements two weeks before surgery to prevent the severe bleeding.
Notify any medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc. including any usage of a drug or dietary supplements.
Recovery
Reduce heavy activities 3 weeks after the surgery.
At first there is a dimple present even without smiling, but after 1-3 months, the dimple is only present while smiling or moving the face.
Use antiseptic mouthwash to rinse your mouth immediately after drinking or eating anything to keep your mouth clean.
Apply medication cream as prescribed by the surgeon.
