In preparation for the surgery, you are going to be required to:
1. Take a lab test - medical problems has to be controlled before surgery
2. Wait six months for surgery in case of a previous infection
3. Stop smoking
4. Stop taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements since they can increase bleeding
5. Undergo assessment of tissue pliability
Post-Operative Care
May vary per surgeon or patient.
1. Normal activities may be resumed the following day.
2. Sleep on 2 pillows or keep head elevated so as not to aggravate swelling.
3. Apply cold compress to the area for 48 hours (swelling subsides 48-72 hours).
4. Try to keep the tape or splint on nose as dry as possible. These will be removed after 5-7 days in the doctor's clinic.
5. Heavy nose blowing should be avoided for the 1st 5-10 days.
6. Avoid heavy lifting for the 1st 10 days.
7. Avoid aerobic exercises or any contact sports 4-6 weeks post-surgery.
8. Follow-up with the doctor and stitch removal will be 7 days after surgery.
